Why Cheatham County Roofs Fail Early

Cheatham County Roofing FAQs
My roof has black streaks. Does that mean it needs replacing?
Usually not. Black streaking is algae, and on a structurally sound roof it is a cleaning problem rather than a replacement problem. A soft wash restores the appearance for a fraction of a replacement cost. If a contractor tells you streaking alone means you need a new roof, get a second opinion — we will give you one free.
What about green moss, not black streaks?
Moss is more serious. It grows in thickness rather than staining flat, and it physically lifts shingle edges so water can travel under the course above. Established moss on a roof more than 15 years old often does mean the roof is at end of life. Caught early on a newer roof, treatment plus better sun exposure can save it.
Do you serve Kingston Springs and Pegram, or just Ashland City?
All of them, directly. Kingston Springs is about 25 minutes from our shop via I-40 and Pegram is closer. Steep wooded lots and difficult access are normal here and we are equipped for them.
Should I put a metal roof on a heavily shaded house?
It is worth pricing. Metal sheds debris more readily, does not support moss the way an asphalt mat does, and typically lasts 40 to 50 years against 20 to 30 for asphalt. It costs more up front. On a lot where you are fighting canopy permanently, the lifetime math often favors metal — but we will show you both numbers rather than steering you.
How often should a wooded-lot roof be inspected?
Annually, and specifically after leaf drop. The valleys are what matter. Our inspections are free and there is no maintenance-plan purchase required to keep Shield Coverage active.
